Where is Sheero?
Chapter Two: Batty and Caly.
Zari was quite upset about Sheero’s absence. She slowly realised how a simple orange cat had occupied a space in her heart. Whenever she sees an orange cat, it reminds her of Sheero.
On a Sunday morning, Zari woke up and heard Batty and Caly meowing at the door. Sheero never let these two cats come near Zari. Sheero never wanted to share her milk and fish with these two cunning cats, so she always dragged them away from her house daily. Every morning she scared them away making sure that the greedy cats never got any chance to sneak into her home and eat her portion.
Batty and Caly now have the chance to get what they always wanted. They also observed that Sheero had not been around for quite some time and this situation was perfect for their survival. Zari being an animal lover and the two beautiful cunning cats made her heart filled with love again. She poured milk into Sheero’s bowl. Caly drank first and left the remaining half for her friend Batty.
Zari kept feeding them, and one day she tried to touch Batty, but she hissed at her and tried to scratch her. Zari said to herself, “Sheero always loved me, never scratched me. I think these cats are just cats.”
Whenever Zari cooked in her kitchen, the cats sat near the sofa and meowed at her for food. Zari happily shared her food every day with them. After some time, these cats became popular among her friends. People in her office and neighbourhood started asking about the cats.
Zari and Sheero’s relationship was quite different, and Zari understood that, but still, she continued to love Batty and Caly. Perhaps Zari was lonely and wanted to share what she had. Zari knew it was extremely hard to pet these clever cats, and therefore she didn’t try much to lure them into having a good human-animal relationship.
Little by little, Batty and Caly started getting comfortable around Zari. They loved napping in her safe and comfy home and having cheese for which they usually fought with each- other. Zari noticed that they loved cheese, so Zari prepared cheese bread for herself and the cats. She first tries to feed Batty from her hands but Batty is Batty “No trust is her rule”. She smashed her left paw onto her hand and bread fell on the ground, Batty quickly grabbed it and ran away. However, this time Caly ate from her hands.
Zari was surprised, Caly made her day. But it happened for the first and last time. Even Caly has the same rule “ No trust is my rule” which she broke only for cheese and not for any stupid affection.
